Carolina Angler's Team Trail
Wateree Tournament Fishing

This past weekend, Lake Wateree was the site of another bass fishing tournament on the Carolina Angler’s Team Trail circuit. 47 teams fished the tournament and 37 of those teams weighed in fish for a total of about 500 pounds. The top winners of the day were Walt Almond and Chad Rabon. This pair of Camden anglers had a 5-fish limit which weighed 19 lbs. 11 ozs. They collected $1500 for their efforts.
2nd place for the tournament was the Lancaster team of Colon and Butch Williams, who weighed in 5 fish that totaled 18 lbs. 9 oz. They pocketed $500.
Another team from Lancaster, Joe Hunter and Rick Porter, came in third place and took 2nd place for big fish honors with a 6 lb 1 oz bass.
Big fish of the day honors went to the 4th place finishers Ray Dowey and Joey Outlaw, both of Camden. Their 5-fish limit was highlighted by the 7 pounder that netted them an extra $330 to their winnings.

The Carolina Angler’s Team Trail, or CATT, is in its 10th year and pays back 100% of entry fees. The CATT is active on Lakes Wateree, Wylie, Murray, and Norman. A couple of tournament qualifiers are held at night, putting a fresh spin on tournament fishing.
Think you’ve got what it takes to compete in CATT? Check out their website here http://www.carolinaanglersteamtrail.com/index.htm and fill out an entry form and see if you can fill your bag with a 5-fish limit. But first, check out the pictures below of this past weekend’s winners, and of the tournament’s big fish, the 7-pounder worth $330.
