07/14/08: And it finally happened.  A team finally busted the illusive jackpot!  Yep, Brian (Bassamasta) Cox and Craig Smith team is the first to win the jackpot this year.  The jackpot is where a team wins first place, big bass, and the side-bet pot all at once.  

Yep, the win is long overdue for the team.  We knew they would win it just didn't know when.  Now they did it with a nice 11.45 lbs sack which anchored with the big bass of the night, a 4.43 lbs beauty.  The team no doubt did the damage with Vertical Lures Jig X - their favorites arsenals.  This has moved them up from 24th place in the overall standing to the 19th place - which helps in securing their place in the classic.  They were so excited and we are excited for them too. 

Congratulations guys.  Super job.   Now, for the team that fishes at least half, there's only one team left that has a perfect batting average - the team of Greg Wilkerson & Dustin Wilson.  Impressive performance guys.  Can they keep it up all the way to the end?  Will it be a perfect season for them?  That remains to be seen.  They had the highest batting average and almost had the perfect one last year, and the year before that.   And, there are now 2 teams that hit the 100 lbs mark with 6 more tournaments in the regular season to go.  After 18 tournaments, 31 teams did it last year.  We shall see how that will pan out this year.  The big bass to beat this year is still the 8 lbs giant.  It'll be a tough one to beat but it can happen.  This is Allatoona.  She's often unpredictable!!!  Stay safe.  See you guys next Monday.
